Maria Care services

We are a family run business with family values and a shared vision to support our clients in achieving independence in their home by delivering high quality care at an affordable price.  We have gained our excellent reputation through engaging and working with our clients (and their families) during the period we are with them by helping to enrich their lives and combat isolation.

Home care is a personalised support service that allows individuals to remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving the help they need. It covers a wide range of services, from personal care and medication support to companionship and assistance with household tasks.

The goal of home care is to promote independence, dignity, and overall well-being. Whether someone needs occasional visits or round-the-clock assistance, care plans are tailored to suit individual needs. Many people choose home care as a flexible alternative to residential care, allowing them to stay in familiar surroundings while receiving professional support.

At its core, home care is about more than just practical help—it’s about building trusted relationships and ensuring people feel safe, valued, and supported in their daily lives.

Considering methods of funding care can be very daunting for many of us.  In some situations, you may be eligible for support from your local council to help cover part or all of the costs associated with the care.  However, this will depend on i.e. savings, property ownership, annual income such as benefits, pensions etc.

Direct payments and personal budgets

If your care is to be partially or fully funded by the council, then you can request a method known as Direct Payments.  In these cases, the client opens a separate account with their bank and the council will make payments into it, which the client then uses towards the cost of their care.

Direct payments do give the client more choice and control in managing their own care through selecting their own provider, managing the payments and allowing a more personalised service, this also assists with retaining the clients own independence.

Those aged 65 or over who need help with personal care, due to physical or mental disability, can apply to receive Attendance Allowance. This is a tax-free Government benefit which is not means-tested.

The basic rate of Attendance Allowance (£58.70 a week) is given to over 65s who need frequent help or constant supervision during the day, or supervision at night.

A higher rate of Attendance Allowance (£87.65 a week) is available to over 65s who need help and supervision throughout both the day and the night, or are living with a terminal illness.

People aged under 65 may be eligible for Personal Independence Payments instead. These payments range from £23.20 to £148.85 a week.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support and care shown, not only to my mother and father but, the family as a whole over the years.  An excellent company that I have recommended many times and will continue to do so.”

“Maria Care does what is says on the tin.  While caring for my mum, all the care staff have gone above and beyond to ensure she is the best she can be.  Mum has had a variety of care staff, each one has shown themselves to be great at their job.  The people in the office are approachable and always willing to help, responding quickly to any queries.  The reason all this happens?  In my opinion, it is because from Maria down, this is a company that really cares.  Thank you so much for all your support.”

“After much effort and persistence on your part, mum has accepted visits from Maria Care staff which has been vital to her remaining at her current address over recent months.  As a family, we would like to thank you, the office team and all of her care staff, for the excellent support and kindness she has received.”
